TRADEVE project "demographical trajectories of European cities and towns " has been granted by University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne for the period 2014-2016.
It gathers different European researchers, involved in three main scientific domains: geography, urban planning and demography.
The aim of the project is to build a harmonized database on delineations and populations of European urban areas (defined by taking into account continuous build-up areas and minimal density threshold), from 1960 to 2010. More than 5000 cities and towns are considered for 2010. This database should be available in free access when validated and valorized through an interactive visualization platform.
The different Geographie-cités members that are involved in TRADEVE work specifically on urban database constructions, on urban planning and demographic stakes linked to shrinking cities.
The coordinator is Anne Bretagnolle.
