Dimitra Kanellopoulou is an architect-engineer (National Technical University of Athens) with a master’s degree in urban planning (École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées) and a PhD in human geography (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). Since 2016 she holds the position of maître de conférences at the ENSAPM School of Architecture. Her research focus on urban walking, public space and soft mobility issues applied to spatial planning using both quantitative and qualitative methods and a variety of perspectives (economic, sociological, psychological) to study this area. Her teaching experience include topics of urban planning theory, planning regulation and practice, city branding, human geography and fieldwork methodology. She is a member of the Research Laboratory LIAT at the ENSAPM and an associate member at the UMR 8504 Géographie-cités in Paris. Her PhD thesis (2015) focused on the experiences of pedestrians, public space planning policies and urban practices in the historical center of Athens (Greece).
Since 2014, she has been also lecturing at the Institute of Research and Higher Education Studies in Tourism of Paris (IREST, Paris) and at the UEMF (Fez). In 2018, she starts collaborating (enseignante-chercheuse invitée) with the Ecole d’Urbanisme de Paris and Harokopio University of Athens (International Master Program (MSc) «Sustainable Tourism Development: Cultural Heritage, Environment, Society).

Researcher at the Regional Planning Organisation of Athens.
Responsibilities: technical support, production of data, mapping and theoretical consulting for the Athenian Regional Plan for 2020.

03/2009-12/2010 :
Architect at the Department of City Planning of the municipality of Athens.
Responsibilities: Organization and supervision of pedestrian projects, study and proposal of new pedestrian roads in the Athenian historical centre.

02/2009 :
Associate researcher at the National Technical University of Athens.
Responsibilities: conceptualisation of the final report of the architectural study for the museum of Metallurgy in Lavrio area.

12/2008 :
Researcher at the study group formed by the Ecole National des Ponts et Chaussées after demand of the RATP (public transport company in the Parisian area).
Responsibilities: study of the expansion of the Parisian regional railway. Case studies: Choisy-Le-Roi, Val de Fontanay, Thiais.

12/2006 :
Assistant architect at the architectural firm «Liakos Associates & Architects» in Athens.

2001 :
Assistant architect at the architectural firm «Maria Papadaki Architects» during the architectural competition for the Τown Ηall of the municipality of Agia Paraskevi in Athens.
