The OECD project entitled "Global Ports and Urban Development"
examines the possibilities for global ports to be a driving force for urban development. The project will outline the performance, impact and future developments in relation with different port cities, considering that several costs connected to ports are usually local, whereas many benefits will have spillover effects to other areas. Finally, it will assess governance models, including financing and coordination mechanisms, with respect to port cities.
