The role of the Seine estuary in the territorial ecology of Normandy: nutrient cycles and hydro-agro-food systems

Period: 2014 - 2018

The Seine estuary plays a key role in the metabolism of Normandy and in its relationships with Paris conurbation. The Seine estuary is a major transport axis, an ecosystem, a resource, and is of major importance in the Seine basin metabolism, with huge consequences for the estuary and the coastal ecosystems.
The RESET project is based on the conceptual framework provided by territorial ecology, and aims at better understanding the biogeochemical functionning of the estuary in connexion to the socio-ecological characteristics of the basin, with a particular focus on the Normandy region. It also aims at defining some socio-economical scenarios in order to examine their implications in terms of territorial metabolism.
